The Janus International 500i Series Insulated Rolling Fire Door is built for openings requiring both fire protection and insulation. Featuring 3" flat slats in 22-, 20-, or 18-gauge steel with a 24-gauge backer and mineral wool insulation (R-Value 4.7), it delivers thermal performance for high-temperature applications. Available up to 30' wide by 24' high, the 500i mounts to steel, concrete, or masonry and includes a fail-safe system triggered by fusible links, smoke detectors, or alarm wiring.

STANDARD FEATURES

  • Two-piece steel bottom bar with seal
  • Chain hoist with fusible link and 30' cable
  • Torsion springs rated 25,000 cycles
  • 1/4" steel head plates
  • Auto-reset drop test
  • Envirocron black powder-coated guides, bottom bars and headplates

OPTIONS

  • Fire ratings: 45 min, 1-1/2 hr, 3 hr.
  • Auto closing devices: XP, XPBB, AFCB.
  • Detection options: Smoke or heat detector, 165° fusible links, horn/strobe; connects to alarm or standalone.
  • Mounting: Between jamb, under or above lintel.
  • Smoke seal: UL 1784 perimeter seal.
  • Weatherstrip: Flame baffle and jamb seal.
  • High-cycle springs: 50,000 or 100,000 cycles.

IDEAL APPLICATIONS

Fire protection plus thermal performance. The 500i pairs a UL fire rating of up to 3 hours with mineral wool insulation (R-4.7), for openings that need both, such as hospitals, high-rises and conditioned industrial space. Once triggered, the door deploys in a controlled descent, sealing off the opening and preserving the fire rating of the wall for a specified time period.

Inspection and compliance

Fire Doors Only Work If They Work Every Time

A rolling fire door can sit open for years before it is needed. Annual inspection and drop testing are what keep it ready.

  • At minimum, annual inspection and drop testing by a trained, certified fire door assembly technician
  • Keep the opening clear: never block, prop open or store materials under a fire door
  • Repairs with manufacturer parts, and a drop test after every repair or approved modification
  • Janus offers fire door training for dealers and customers, including hands-on drop-test training
