How to use the Low Battery Unit Controller widget to manage your smart locks for battery replacement and troubleshooting.
Understanding the Low or Dead Battery Unit Controllers Widget
The Low or Dead Battery Unit Controllers widget helps you monitor units at your facility that have reported a low or dead battery. This allows you to stay informed and take action to prevent lockouts due to dead batteries.
What Information Does This Widget Display?
The widget contains three key columns to help you track battery status:
- Locks – Displays the unit number or name associated with a low or dead battery. Click the unit number to access the Unit Controller Details page for more information.
- Initially Reported – Shows the date when the unit first reported a low or dead battery. This helps you track how long the battery has been in a low or dead state.
- Battery State – Displays the current battery status. You may see:
- LOW – The battery is low and should be replaced soon.
- DEAD – The battery is dead, and the unit is no longer operational until the battery is replaced.
How to Use This Widget
The widget is designed to give you a quick overview of units that need battery replacements. Here's what you can do:
- Review the List – Check which units have reported low or dead batteries and how long they've been in that state.
- Click the Unit Number – Selecting the unit number (like 4516 or 4524) takes you to the Unit Controller Details page. There, you can view more information about the unit.
- Replace the Battery – After replacing a dead or low battery, the unit should automatically update its battery status once it communicates with the Nokē system. This may take some time. See more info here: Updating the Latest Date for Battery Replacements
- Confirm the Battery Status – If the battery has been replaced and the status has not yet updated, wait for the device to sync with the Nokē system. If the status remains unchanged after 24 hours, contact Nokē Support.
Additional Features
- Sort by Column – You can click on any column header (Locks, Initially Reported, Battery State) to sort the list. This is helpful when prioritizing older battery replacements.
-
Accessing the Low Battery Page - You can quickly access the Low Battery page by clicking the View Details icon on the Low Battery Unit Controllers widget. This allows you to take action directly from the dashboard.
What Happens After Replacing the Battery?
Once the battery is replaced:
- The device will report a healthy battery status during its next communication with the Nokē system.
- The unit will automatically move from the Low or Dead Battery report once the battery status updates.
- If the device does not communicate within 24 hours after replacement, you may need to perform a manual battery check.
Note:
- Battery replacements do not generate an activity event on the Activity Page. However, the Battery Replaced Date will update on the Unit Controller Details page once the battery status is healthy.
- If you do not replace the battery and the unit continues to report a dead battery, it will remain in the widget until action is taken.
